Update February 2023: Branded Levitra has been discontinued by the manufacturer (Bayer).
Drug manufacturer Bayer’s patent on Levitra expired 31 October 2018, following in the footsteps of Pfizer’s Viagra and Lilly’s Cialis, whose patents expired in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
A phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor, Levitra was introduced to the market in 2003, around the same time as Viagra and Cialis. It enhances blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme normally responsible for regulating, or limiting, that blood flow.
Also known by the name of its active ingredient,, Levitra offers help with sexual performance and improves sexual relationships affected by erectile dysfunction.
Club drugs include Ecstasy (MDMA), the ‘date rape drug’ (Rohypnol), Crystal meth or Speed (Methamphetamine), acid (LSD), Special K (Ketamine) and Poppers (amyl nitrates). Increasingly the dangers of these drugs are escalated by taking more than one at the same time.
Typically taken at raves, parties, and clubs, these drugs are used to enhance or distort sensations and perceptions, to feel euphoric, and experience greater enjoyment. They are perceived to increase self-confidence and physical energy.
Of course these drugs are illegal for a reason. They have adverse effects and can be dangerous, even fatal. Problems arise from toxicity due to excessive dose, from interactions, and due to impurities. Illegal drugs are not monitored for quality.

A new study shows the effects of a popular anti-depressant, Levitra, on a brain’s serotonin levels, could have serious consequences.
The study, published in the journal “Journal of the American Academy of Neurology”, is the first to examine whether the drug increases the levels of serotonin in the brain.
“Levitra is an anti-depressant, so it’s important to see if it increases serotonin,” says Dr. Michael C. Grazian, professor of neuroanatomy at the University of Toronto and senior author of the study. “There is no direct effect on serotonin and no effect on other brain chemicals, so it is not completely understood.”
Levitra was developed as a treatment for depression by scientists at the University of Toronto in Canada. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the brain. This can lead to a feeling of calmness and increased activity in the brain, which could affect how people feel about themselves and about themselves. Levitra also can cause sleepiness.
“Levitra is not a magic pill for depression, so it is important to look at whether it affects the serotonin in the brain,” says Dr. Grazian.
In the study, the participants were told to take a placebo pill three times per day for 10 weeks. The placebo pill was taken at a time to determine the effect of Levitra on serotonin levels, the level of serotonin in the brain. The researchers then asked the participants to take the placebo pill once a day for 10 weeks. After 10 weeks, the researchers found that the placebo pill improved symptoms of depression by 15 percent, compared with placebo. After 10 weeks of treatment, the researchers found that the drug had no effect on depressive symptoms.
The study also showed that the drug did not cause sedation, so it was not recommended to take the medication with alcohol or marijuana. Grazian says the findings should be considered in patients with a history of sleep apnea, which can occur when the brain doesn’t receive adequate oxygen or when other medications are taken that can contribute to insomnia.
“In general, people with insomnia who take Levitra are more likely to get sleepiness than people with other psychiatric conditions,” he says. “They have a better chance of getting sleepiness and a better chance of getting sleepiness.”
The findings suggest that the drug is safe for use in the treatment of depression. The researchers do not know exactly how long Levitra stays in the body. But the drug can have side effects that affect people who take it.
“The main side effects of Levitra are nausea,” Grazian says. “These are all side effects that occur at least once per day.”
Levitra has been on the market since the late 1960s. It was approved in the U. S. in 1996. In Canada, it has been available for more than 20 years. In the U. S., it is sold in generic, not as the brand name.
Levitra was approved by the U. Food and Drug Administration in 1996 as a treatment for erectile dysfunction and was approved for use in the U. in 1998. It has been on the market since 2005. Grazian says the drug is safe and well-tolerated.
“There is a small, but significant, risk of drowsiness and sleepiness when you take Levitra,” Grazian says.
The findings are not new. In 2004, researchers at the University of Toronto at Toronto and the University of the Pacific were looking at whether Levitra could help with a brain condition known as Alzheimer’s disease.
“I’m sure there are other things you can do to help improve your health,” says Dr. “But it’s not possible to do that without using Levitra.
